Home: A solo exhibition by Paul Francis Bryan

Bjork London 2005 ©️ Paul Francis Bryan

HOME is an exhibition of photographic works spanning two decades of club life in the queer 2000s. From dancers to prancers, celebrity DJs and dance floor snoggers, it captures the nightlife of seminal queer London club nights, The Cock, fashions own Boombox, and the burgeoning queer venue Dalston Superstore.

“For me, it’s a real pleasure to share these images when I was trying to find my feet in the London clubland after moving from Nottingham in 1997.  I realised i wanted to to be a photographer whilst I was DJing and was surrounded by such expression, fashion and life, all this connected through the music and dancing. Its religion! Like this image of Bjork DJing, she was using he laptop and she finally got it to work coz it was fucking up. Together the images show a real sense of community of a place some of us call home. It was essential to our existence, it still is. We have such a rich history of clubbing and music, I’m happy to have captured some of what I experienced. “
