Soap Making Workshop

BEGINNERS SOAP MAKING COURSE Sunday 8 November 10.00am -14.30 with 30 minutes for lunch. At this soap workshop, you will learn to craft lovely moisturising cold press soaps with natural plant based ingredients. You will make natural handmade soaps using traditional methods with oils, luxurious butters and essential oils the traditional way. You will learn how to use a wide range of natural botanicals and natural clays effectively in your soaps. We will be using loaf moulds and this makes approximately one pound of soap( approximately 5 bars of 90g soap) Your handmade soap, once set, can be collected later at your convenience. These workshops are small groups of up to four people. Course Content – Health and Safety including safety aspects of working with sodium hydroxide (lye)- Brief history of Soap- Iodine Number Saponification Value- Essentials oils and clays- Adding exfoliants and scrub ingredients for texture- Weighing ingredients- LUNCH- Soap making – Curing soap- Decorating, cutting and storing soap Please tie any long hair back, wear long sleeves and enclosed shoes. If possible, bring an apron. over 18’s only
