The Andy Panayi Quartet

Very much a musician’s musician, Andy has been a stalwart of the British jazz and session scenes since the 1980’s. He has a formidable reputation as a saxophonist, playing all members of the instrumental family with equal conviction from perfectly in-tune soprano down to Mulligan-esque baritone, via bop-ish alto and Rollins-like tenor. His clarinet playing is warm-toned and fluid; but his astonishing accomplishments on the various flutes really set him apart.
In this latest project Andy features on the piccolo, concert, alto and bass flutes, showcasing his huge tone, great intonation and astonishing technique. While he’ll be performing mainly his original compositions, many will have an air of familiarity, being based on the chord changes of famous show tunes and jazz standards.
