Matter of Place Architects (MOPA)

A Conservation Architects Practice

Founded in 2022 by Hannah Wooller, a conservation architect with over two decades of experience delivering award-winning buildings, Matter of Place Architects (MOPA) is a non-profit architectural studio dedicated to securing a sustainable future for our built environment. As a Community Interest Company (CIC), MOPA exists to advocate for and demonstrate innovative methods for the sustainable management, adaptation, and restoration of existing structures.

The built environment contributes up to 40% of global emissions, and MOPA is committed to addressing this environmental crisis head-on. Through research, advocacy, and design, MOPA provides regenerative, people-focused solutions to help property owners, stewards, and professionals prepare for a responsible future.

MOPA’s team of architects and heritage consultants specialise in conservation and retrofit, with expertise spanning traditional and modern sustainable construction techniques, MOPA ensures every project is unique and conscientiously delivered. Working with local authorities, commercial clients, private homeowners, and climate-conscious developers, MOPA strives to unlock opportunities for existing buildings, believing that the greenest building is the one that already exists.

At MOPA, we believe architecture can empower communities and drive meaningful change—redefining how we care for and inhabit the spaces that matter most.
