CLARA VELA MASON
is a witty, lyrical feminist performance poet who brings a fresh and funny take on the everyday life of a Gen-Z woman.
Through her work, she explores how misogyny is embedded in daily life, with a particular focus on the ways digital spaces shape how women are seen, spoken to, and understood.
Much of her inspiration comes from social media, digital advertising, and dating apps—platforms designed for constant consumption. Clara challenges this content, using humour to examine its wider emotional impact.
Rather than addressing misogyny through broad or familiar feminist narratives, she is drawn to quieter moments: a TikTok ad, an Instagram reel, a pickup line. By expanding these small details, her work reveals how they contribute to larger systems of bias and inequality.
She currently studies at the University of East Anglia, where she is developing her creative practice, growing her profile, and beginning to carve out her voice as a writer and performer. Her work aims not only to provoke reflection, but to create space for recognition, conversation, and shared understanding among women, it’ll also make you smile.
OPEN MIC
There will be six open mic slots, one of which will be a wild card pick on the night.
The audience will vote for their favourite open mic performer – and the winner will go on to feature at our next Norwich event!
