We’re excited to feature altoist Sam Braysher and his new project exploring the work of Kurt Weill; a fascinating composer who lies at the intersection of European classical music, jazz, opera and American musical theatre. Although best known for songs such as Mack The Knife and September Song, Braysher also looks at some of Weill’s lesser-known pieces, with characteristically thoughtful and varied arrangements, from the swirling harmonies of his Weimar-era early work with Bertolt Brecht, to his more jazz-adjacent American period.
Sam Braysher grew up in Dereham, Norfolk, before moving to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and forge a career as a jazz musician. He has received widespread acclaim for the two albums released previously under his own name, both of which explore lesser-known American Songbook standards and feature renowned international collaborators.
Doors 7.30pm / music from 8.30pm – 11pm
Admission £16 / under 25s £8 / after 9.30pm £8
